Use Canva Animator to create animated GIFs
OK I accept to acknowledge— I had never actually used the Canva Animator earlier creating this post (whoops!).
I had designed plenty of GIF animations with Photoshop, but for some reason I didn't even realize how many GIF/video features Canva had released with their Pro programme.
And then I tested the Animator out and allow me tell y'all— I'yard completely hooked!
I do have to tell you, though… in that location were a few issues I ran into in terms of GIF file size. When you go to consign your GIF, you accept the following options:
-
Fade
-
Pan
-
Block
-
Rise
-
Breathe
-
Slide
-
Simple
The "uncomplicated" GIF animation had no moving elements, aside from the arrow sticker (pictured below), and I had no issue with the export. The file size came out to around 220kb.
But when I exported the same GIF using the "Block" blitheness option, the file size was huge (I'm talking around 800kb).
So here'southward what I did— I exported the GIF like normal…
Then I used EZGif.com'southward GIF Optimizer to compress the file. I cutting a few of the frames out using the "Remove every third frame" option.
Then I used the "Lossy GIF" choice & changed the pinch to 80…
… and I was able to go it downwards to around 250kb— great!
Canva Magic Resize
And so, Canva Magic Resize is basically the best affair since sliced bread…
…because if yous've always designed a graphic template before (which I'm sure you lot have), you know merely how much time is wasted when you have to re-create designs to fit dissimilar platforms.
And luckily, Canva Pro solves that trouble for us with the Magic Resize feature!
In a nutshell, the tool lets yous resize your graphics in bulk to fit multiple, pre-set formats (run across below for a visual reference!).
This means that you'll never have to spend hours searching for up-to-date social media aspect ratios e'er again (phew!)…
… and it likewise means that you tin can resize templates to fit all your fave platforms with merely 1 unproblematic click! # ThankYouCanva

See how convenient it is?! You can access this astonishing little feature right on the home page of your Canva (Pro) account!
I beloved the Brand Kit because it allows you to stay consistent with your design graphics at all times (yep— even if you're outsourcing work to a designer!).
Alt + drag to scale proportionally
OK, so I know I accept a department on Canva keyboard shortcuts…
… but I thought this one in particular deserved information technology's own little home, because I seriously apply it that much in my blueprint process.
Then, just like with the Adobe programs, you can hold the ALT central and drag your pattern elements out to scale them proportionally .
You can either use the side handles, or corner handles to scale elements…
… only since visuals make everything better, just check out my little GIF below to come across the shortcut for yourself!
Note that you can as well but drag out on ane of the element corners & you'll nonetheless go on it's proportions…
…the element just won't scale out from the center similar it does in the GIF higher up.

Add together comments in Canva to proceed of import graphic info in one identify
This is actually one of the nearly useful Canva Pro features for disorganized humans like myself...
… the power to add comments on design templates and keep important brand graphic info all in 1 place!
Information technology's actually super useful for anyone using the Canva Squad features… because yous can write notes to another squad fellow member and provide feedback easily without having to go back & along between letters.
Here's one example of how I use the feature to speed up my workflow…
I like to add comments to go on runway of graphic quality info, then that when it's time to export my design templates… I have the info ready & know exactly what quality to set the template at to keep my images optimized for SEO.
Because, as well-nigh bloggers know, heavy file sizes tin can quickly & easily destroy your site speed.
Equally a rule of thumb, you lot should aim to keep website graphics below 200kb . I unremarkably stretch things a piffling to become higher epitome quality and aim for 300 (what can I say, I'thousand a dominion billow…).
Either way, I love that Canva allows me to keep track of all this file info in one place!
All y'all have to practice is click whatsoever chemical element on the design & you'll come across a picayune comment chimera pop upward…
… y'all tin then add a comment for yourself, or mention a squad fellow member in the comment!
Brand/consign a transparent background in Canva
I know I probably audio similar a cleaved record here… but merely note that the transparent background feature is only available for Canva Pro users…
… but if yous wanna endeavour out Canva Pro free for 30 days & become admission to all the astonishing features in this article… I certainly won't try and terminate you. :)
OK moving on.
For the transparent groundwork feature to work, you'll need to remove any background image/color from your design template, or set up the electric current background color to white.
PS… just click the delete button or click the trash icon in the editor to delete the background.
-
Step 1: Click the Download (or Publish) pick in the meridian right-hand corner of your editor (located next to the share button).
-
Pace 2: You'll see a "File type" dropdown carte. Click the pick that says "PNG"
-
Stride iii: Now make sure to check off "Transparent background", otherwise the design will export with a white background
-
Step 4: Click download, and your blueprint will exist prepare to show off to the globe!
Remove groundwork from image in Canva
If you've ever tried to effigy out how to remove the background from a photo in Photoshop, Word or Powerpoint… then yous already know that information technology'due south not exactly a "straightforward" process.
And the scene unremarkably ends with you pulling your hair out considering you simply spent hours trying to go it correct… and information technology notwithstanding somehow looks like a #HotMessExpress. :/ (Yep, been in that location too).
But proficient news— Canva Pro just swooped in & saved the day…
…with a ONE-click solution to background image removal.
Yep— y'all heard that correct. Listed below, I've included the incredibly unproblematic steps to remove the groundwork from an image in Canva quickly and easily— no Photoshop required!

Feel gratis to apply this scary collage I created of myself to apply as inspiration…
…imagine a world with multiple Fallon'due south. Terrifying idea, I know.
How to copy from one pattern to another in Canva
In Canva, information technology's much easier to just re-create from one pattern to another than beginning from scratch each time (which sounds like a total nightmare in my stance!).
To make a copy of your design template, just click this little icon as pictured below…
…. and your template will now be copied into a brand spankin' new template so you don't have to beginning from scratch e'er once more (whoop whoop!).
You can of class just copy and paste the individual elements as well if you want the layout to look slightly different from the previous.
PS, I know that re-create & paste are the keyboard shortcuts most people do already know… just merely in example:
-
Copy elements: cmd/ctrl + "C"
-
Paste elements: cmd/ctrl + "5"
How to hyperlink on Canva
Adding a hyperlink to your PDF doc in Canva is incredibly unproblematic, and I've included a pace-by-step process & screenshots beneath in instance you lot need a visual reference.
Step 1: Click on the blueprint element or text box that you lot want to turn into a hyperlink

To change the hyperlink in an element, but repeat the steps higher up and replace the previous link with the new ane.
Y'all should note that at that place is one downside to Canva hyperlinks:
Currently, there'due south no way to hyperlink an private element. This means that you'll need to add the link to your entire element (i.due east. the text box or any other design element).
So you'll demand to brand certain you lot create a separate text box/design chemical element for everything y'all don't want hyperlinked.
Brand sense? It's a little inconvenient… simply nothing to suspension a sweat over!
Too… merely to be clear… your link volition not show upwards on a regular JPEG paradigm. This characteristic is only designed for templates exported as a PDF .
Lock elements in Canva
Yep, you heard that right. Now, the "lock elements" characteristic isn't just available for Adobe programs…
… y'all can do it right from Canva (tin I get an amen?!).
For those of you who don't know about the lock elements feature, it basically allows you to lock any design chemical element in place, so you can't accidentally move information technology around while you're designing other aspects of the graphic.
This is also super useful if you share your designs often/ allow team members to edit your templates!!
I'll use that collage I made of myself as an example :) because it has elements that are super close together/all piled on top of one another, and then information technology's the perfect example of when the lock elements feature might come in clutch!
How to lock elements in Canva
To lock elements, just follow these simple steps:
-
Click an element or select a group of elements that you desire locked in place.
-
Click the Padlock icon — this is located in the main blueprint editor at the pinnacle.

Now, don't forget that you'll need to unlock the elements if you lot want to edit them afterward on!
To unlock elements, just follow these steps:

Select the locked elements
-
